This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill one vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Land Development and Community Services department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $33.84. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.
- Environment - The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surface. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. The worker is exposed to infectious diseases or other possible infectious materials. Exposed to blood, fecal matter, and OPIM. The worker is required to function around unruly or physically disrupting individuals. May be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by department needs. May be required to work overtime, stand-by, and call back during off hours to respond to emergencies. May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing essential functions of position.
THE ROLE
Performs field inspections of properties to ensure compliance with applicable zoning and nuisance codes or ordinances; resolves complaints; enforces zoning, solid waste, business license, and specified building codes to ensure the safety, protection and visual enhancement of the community; and performs various related technical duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Two years of college level course work in law enforcement, or a field related to the work, and two years of full-time work experience which has either, required the interpretation, explanation and enforcement of varied codes and regulations, or the inspection of properties for housing, zoning, building or related code enforcement.
- Equivalency: May substitute a combination of equivalent education and experience. The City assesses 1 year of full time experience as equivalent to one year of education.
- G.E.D. may be substituted for high school diploma.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Zoning Officer and/or Property Housing and Maintenance Inspector certification through the International Code Council or the American Association of Code Enforcement.
- Equivalent certification may be accepted as determined by the Department Director.
- Certification must be obtained by the date of hire/reclassification.
SELECTION PROCESS

- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
