This is managerial level professional engineering work in a wide variety of engineering projects. An incumbent in this classification is team leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of subordinate professional and technical employees engaged in planning, construction, operations, maintenance, and public works projects and programs within the Public Works department. Emphasis of the work is planning and coordinating projects and programs from inception to completion; contract administration; and extensive coordination with consultants, contractors and other governmental entities for infrastructure and engineering including Capital Improvement and Rehabilitation and Repair projects. Work is highly complex and involves a wide range of public contact in coordinating delegated City engineering activities with both public and private organizations.

The omission of specific statements related to the duties and responsibilities of this position does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or reasonable within the scope of the position.)- Supervises, coordinates, and provides technical guidance to the Public Works department.
- Supervises the construction and inspection of roadway, stormwater, and other municipal projects.
- Supervises professional and technical staff in the preparation and review of plans, cost estimates and specifications, and in the review of zoning petitions, site plans and various public works right-of-way permits applications.
- Conducts and Coordinates contract administration services for all consulting engineering contracts which entails preparing progress reports, attending meetings, tracking of consultant's progress, review of plans and specifications, review of pay requests, and coordination and review of design and permitting activities.
- Prepares, reviews, or arranges for regulatory stormwater permit acquisition.
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
- Researches and applies for grants; oversees grant reimbursements
- Performs other related work as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field; and six (6) years of experience.
Special Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid, State of Florida driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License from the State of Florida preferred, minimum Florida Engineer Intern (EI) certification.
- Three years of supervising professional engineering functions preferred.
- Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment.
Salary : $90,885 - $136,328
