Under general supervision, this employee assists with all technical operations of the Performing Arts Theater, amphitheater, special events and recreation activities. Requires frequent evening and weekend work. Reports to Theater Supervisor.

  1. Responsible (hands on) for assisting with the operation and maintenance of standard theater equipment of the Performing Arts Theater, which includes the operations of a computerized lighting control board, intelligent, lights and conventional theatrical fixtures.
  2. Assists with the opening and closing of facilities, and the load-in and load-out for shows to ensure the facility and the equipment is secure.
  3. Troubleshoot problems and performs minor & major maintenance and repair as needed.
  4. Operates and maintains audio-visual equipment including but not limited to TV’s, DVD’s, projectors, screens, digital cameras, sound & lighting equipment, etc.
  5. Assist with house operations, renters and City staff to fulfill their needs regarding lighting issues. 
  6. Provides assistance to other department personnel as needed.
  7. Responsible for the video recording of public meetings at City Hall and other City facilities.
  8. Provides assistance in the set-up of programs & events; purchases and picks up supplies and equipment for programs & events as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
  9. Operates and utilizes various equipment and machinery including a computer, printer, sound mixing board, equalizers, intercom systems, amplifiers, speakers, DVD & CD players, mixers, microphone systems, light console, lettering system, cameras, camcorder, projectors, vehicles, mechanic tools, etc. 
  10. Interacts and communicates with a variety of individuals and groups in the performance of daily activities, including producers, performers, patrons, immediate supervisor, City employees, elected officials, co-workers, stage crews, vendors, etc.
  11. Demonstrates superior customer service integrity and commitment to innovation, efficiency and fiscally responsible activity, serving as a role model for others. 
  12. Performs other related duties as required.
  • High school graduate preferably supplemented with experience in theater experience to include lighting, sound and stage management or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in stage lighting, sound or related field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, Creole, or Russian preferred.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machines including a computer printer, sound mixing board equalizers, intercom systems, amplifiers, speakers, DVD & CD players, mixers, microphone systems, lights, lettering systems, cameras, camcorder projectors, vehicles, mechanic tools, etc. 
  • Must have the ability to exert up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force occasionally and/or up to fifteen (15) pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.
  • Involves reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing for periods of time in the operation of sound, lighting and audio-visual systems. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of at least twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Must possess the ability to distinguish colors and shades of light and dark.
  • Must be able to distinguish levels of volume.
  • Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through personal contact, the use of the telephone and/or other City-issued technology devices. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist under desks and around furniture; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight up to 20 lbs.; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and toverbally communicate to exchange information. Salary : $35,966 - $53,950
