The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Summer Camp Director to help lead and supervise daily camp operations. This role ensures a safe, fun, and engaging experience for campers while supporting and overseeing camp staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervise and support Summer Camp Counselors, ensuring effective teamwork and staff coverage.
- Oversee daily camp activities, including sports, games, arts & crafts, and life skills programs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and structured camp environment.
- Administer first aid when necessary and enforce all safety protocols.
- Manage program supplies, including inventory and distribution.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding camper participation or concerns.
- Track attendance and document incidents, accidents, and disciplinary actions.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and leading activities.
- Ensure camp policies and behavior guidelines are followed.
- Report any issues to the Program Coordinator and assist with on-site training.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with large groups of children in a camp, daycare, or school setting.
- At least one (1) year of experience supervising staff in a similar environment.
- Attendance at mandatory staff orientation is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field or
- Three (3) years of experience working with children and supervising staff in a structured setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification
