Position Definition: The Swimming Instructor is responsible for teaching swimming lessons, ensuring safety in the pool, and enforcing pool rules. This role involves working with individuals of all ages and abilities, including children, teens, adults, and people with disabilities. Additionally, the position occasionally includes lifeguard duties and assisting with other tasks to maintain a safe and enjoyable swimming environment.
General Duties:
- Teach swimming lessons to children, teenagers, adults, and individuals with disabilities.
- Certify swimmers who meet the necessary skill levels.
- Serve as a lifeguard when assigned, ensuring safety in and around the pool.
- Enforce pool safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment for all patrons.
- Help with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pool area.
- Assist with special events or additional tasks as needed to support the swimming program

Supervised By: Aquatics Coordinator
- Knowledge of: Swimming techniques, pool equipment, and teaching methods for various skill levels. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations governing the use of the pool.
- Skills to: Effectively demonstrate swimming techniques, teach individuals in a clear and engaging way, and communicate with swimmers of all ages.
- Abilities to: Inspire confidence in participants, maintain a safe environment, enforce pool rules, stay alert in emergencies, and work well with others (both staff and pool guests).
- Physical Requirements: Must meet the physical and health standards required to perform the duties of the job, including swimming and staying alert while on lifeguard duty.
