General Summary
A highly responsible position responsible for assisting the Bully Busters Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Youth, Family, and Recreation Services/Bully Busters Summer Jam and Learn Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Available for the entirety of the Summer Program 6/23/25 – 8/8/25, which includes training. This position also requires pre-camp meetings and some planning through the spring and early summer.
- Attends Epi Pen, DCF Mandated Reporter and Medication & Administering Certification trainings as well as all scheduled staff meetings.
- Assists with the supervision of program staff ensuring that they are conducting activities that are fun and safe for program participants.
- Enforces rules and policies for the benefit of all participants.
- Manages parent complaints and concerns in a professional, empathetic manner reinforcing our commitment to customer service.
- Assists with the implementation of a daily schedule of appropriate skills and character-building activities in compliance with program goals.
- Coordinates the daily inventory of program supplies, inspecting for shortages or damages, and report results for replenishment or repair.
- Coordinates the inspection of site areas including bathrooms, parking lots, fields and other areas for hazardous conditions, cleanliness, or suspicious activities and handles all emergencies.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and attitude at all times to demonstrate the importance of customer service.
- Keeps accurate records of attendance, emergencies and behavior issues for all participants for follow up and documentation.
- Provides written reports of accidents or incidents immediately to the YFR Program Coordinator.
- Conducts and attends scheduled staff training and meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assists to plan and organize weekly field trips.
- Assists with managing teen volunteers.
- Acts as supervisor when Bully Busters Director is absent.
Conditions and Equipment: Requires some heavy lifting, working outdoors, sneakers and/or safe footwear required at all times. Staff shirt must be worn on all days at camp.
Qualifications:
- CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
- Must be able to give effective directions and supervision of staff.
- Must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Must demonstrate good decision-making abilities, especially in emergency situations.
- Must have a positive personality and the ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity and success.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with both children and adults in a mature manner.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of children and have knowledge of their limitations.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred. 3 years relevant experience can substitute for degree.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience as a behavior interventionist in the middle or high school setting.
- Must be 18 years or older.
