What does an Assessing Coordinator do?
As a new Assessing Coordinator at the City of Novi, you can expect a balanced and engaging workday from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will provide front-line customer service to Novi's taxpayers, processing property transfer documents and principal residence exemptions. Daily and weekly tasks include reviewing deeds and other documents, and accurate data entry into our assessing database. Additional responsibilities include: prepare documents for boards of review, create and maintain filing and record systems, assist residents, title companies and Realtors with inquiries related to property assessments and property taxes. The assessing coordinator researches and processes Freedom of Information Act requests (FOIA), creates basic reports in Word and Excel, proofreads documents and creates letter correspondence to taxpayers. Some data entry of field work and sketching of residential houses in Apex software may be required.
Regular meetings with team members will keep you aligned with departmental goals and foster a culture of open communication. Ongoing assessing-related training will be provided.
