What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Technician I/II position at City of Oak Ridge Tennessee?
Position Summary
The position performs maintenance activities to ensure the readiness and safety of facilities operated and maintained by the Recreation and Parks Department under the direction of the Centennial Golf Course Maintenance Manager.
Essential Functions
- Performs golf course maintenance such as repairs to fences, benches, tables, garbage cans, signs, shelters and any other existing structures.
- Maintains cart paths and walkways with stone or asphalt patches; ensures cart paths and walkways are clear of any obstructions.
- Controls and manages invasive vegetation in and around the golf course.
- Prunes trees using proper pruning techniques. Removes dead or hazardous trees on the golf course property. Removes fallen leaves.
- Performs landscape maintenance, including edging and mulching beds, weeding, watering, fertilizing, turf renovation and pruning.
- Installs plant material and hardscapes.
- Operates maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, bunker rake, utility tractor, string trimmer, chain saw, pole saw, dump truck, sod cutter, chemical sprayer, tiller, bush hog, etc.
- Assists in the repair of irrigation systems.
- Ensures golf course restrooms and other facilities are clean and in working order.
- Maintains appearance of the golf course to ensure the areas are free of litter, fallen tree limbs and other debris.
- Cleans, lubricates, and performs minor maintenance or repair to equipment.
- Maintains up-to-date records of all maintenance activities.
- Assists in the proper storage of chemicals and ensure compliance with all chemical label instructions. Follows all worker protection directives, especially the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assists other department staff to complete projects, special events, and implementation of the Parks Master Plan.
- Assists with snow removal operations.
- Performs emergency repairs and work as instructed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent.
- Previous maintenance or grounds keeping experience preferred.
