Senior Civil Engineer Job Summary
As a Senior Civil Engineer with the City of Oakley, you will lead and oversee complex engineering projects, serving as a project manager for large-scale capital improvement projects. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and constructing various public works facilities, including streets, traffic controls, landscaping, parks, storm drains, and other infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams of engineers and technicians in the design, development, and construction of public works projects.
- Oversee the review and approval of engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Analyze and evaluate design drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
- Negotiate and coordinate with citizens, property owners, businesses, and other agencies to resolve issues related to engineering and public works projects.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to City Council and other stakeholders.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
Experience: Seven years of increasingly responsible supervisory professional civil engineering work, with at least three years of equivalent Associate Engineer experience
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid driver's license and a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
