This position is responsible for enforcing the City of Ocala Code of Ordinance sections, along with state and local laws that pertain to nuisances, building, zoning, signage, business tax receipts and contractor certification. This includes the permitting regulations for building, signage, sidewalk cafes, and alcohol location permits, etc. This job may require a flexible work schedule and intermittent work on a weekend day when required. Reports to Code Enforcement and Parking Manager.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Conducts field investigations and inspections to insure compliance with local ordinances and state laws pertaining to all aspects of nuisances, building, zoning, licensing, contractors' certification, permitting, and alcoholic beverage regulations. This duty is performed daily.Involves extensive record keeping, and the ability to testify with specific detail of violations and corrections to be utilized in hearings with the Municipal Code Enforcement Board, Special Magistrate, Department of Business and Professional Regulation or civil court proceedings when necessary. This duty is performed daily.Must be able to collect required information that could lead to the issuance of an inspection/search warrant when necessary and be familiar with documents related to liens, permits and agreements.
