This is manual and semi-skilled work in Water or Wastewater treatment plant operations. The employee in this position will learn technical skills in the safe and efficient operation of a Treatment Plant facility. Report to Department Director or Designee.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out simple multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with limited variables.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.
PLANNING
Limited responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.
DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance, and which would not only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved but would also affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a slight degree.
MENTAL DEMAND
Light mental demand. Operations requiring intermittent directed thinking to carry out predetermined procedure or sequence of operations of limited variability. Operations requiring intermittent attention to control machine or manual motions.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING
Repetitive. Activities or duties using a pre-determined set of processes or directions coupled with nearby supervision. Learned things in situations where choice is simple or patterned.
USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Occasional use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)
ACCURACY
Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include contacts with suppliers, mail service, etc.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Contacts occasionally with others beyond immediate associates, but generally of a routine nature. May obtain, present or discuss data, but only as pertains to an immediate and specific assignment. No responsibility for obtaining cooperation or approval of action or decision.

- Reads and changes a variety of meters and charts, keeps log sheets and prepares operating records and reports, and operates SCADA system.
- Regularly takes samples from various points in the treatment process and performs routine chemical analysis on samples making required adjustments to chemical feed systems or other process control equipment to maintain proper treatment. Replenishes chemical feeders with chemicals when needed.
- Maintains proper system pressures and storage tank levels.
- Monitors process and makes adjustments based on physical inspection and field gained knowledge of process.
- Completes general housekeeping for work area and equipment/tools. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Transports dry sludge from digesters to selected sludge application sites.
- Must document the land application rates and locations as well as other pertinent data related to permit requirements.
- Maintains vehicle (checks fluid levels, drive belt, and tire pressure).
- Check reports and maintains records at Water Production/Wastewater Treatment Plants.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- No prior experience or training required.
- Valid State of Florida Driver License Class "E".
- Must obtain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of hire.
- Must possess a CDL class “B” permit by first day of hire.
- Employee must, within one year of date of hire or promotion to this position, reside within 45 minutes of City Hall, 110 SE Watula Avenue, using Map Quest.
