Utilities Truck Driver
SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, operates specialized trucks and equipment to move sludge from the Bob Derrington Water Reclamation Plant, Water Treatment Plant for the Utilities Department; operates vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Operates a variety of specialized trucks and machinery to move and transfer sludge and other materials from the Water Reclamation Plant to the landfill; operates specialized vehicles in compliance with all safety regulations and City procedures.
• Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED preferred; AND one year of work experience operating trucks and machinery.
Knowledge of:
• Safety policies and standards, and safe driving practices in public streets.
• City geography, traffic patterns, streets, landmarks, and City facility locations.
Skill in:
• Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Following standard operating and safety procedures, and verbal and written instructions.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
License and certification requirements: A Texas State Commercial Driver's License is required.
Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment. City approved safety shoes must be worn.
