Senior Librarian

The Ontario City Library has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Senior Librarian to administer programming, archival processing, special collections care, outreach, and specialized reference for customers in addition to supervision of paraprofessional staff. The Senior Librarian for Local History oversees the daily operations of the Robert E. Ellingwood Model Colony History Room.
The Senior Librarian for Local History will be expected to establish and maintain good relationships with other library units, city agencies, school districts, and community groups. Other responsibilities for this position include :
- Soliciting donations from the public.
- Coordinating the acquisition of collections and local history-related materials.
- Partnering with organizations and individuals to participate in outreach activities and coordinating local history-related programming.
- Arranging, describing, and rehousing archival collections.
- Managing digitization projects.
- Overseeing team activities including developing workflows and procedures, training, setting goals and timelines, and evaluating outcomes.
The ideal candidate takes initiative, is highly organized, enjoys being part of a team, has excellent communication and writing skills, possesses leadership skills, and follows and anticipates current library and archival trends. The Community Life and Culture Agency
The City of Ontario's Community Life & Culture Agency endeavors to meet the Ontario City Council goal to "encourage, provide or support enhanced recreational, educational, cultural, and healthy city programs, policies, and activities." Community Life & Culture does this through a comprehensive array of programs, activities, services, and events available through the Recreation & Community Services, Library and Museum Departments as well as the Arts & Culture program.

Minimum Requirements
Education
Equivalent to a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science or a closely related field.
Experience
Three years performing professional librarian work.
Licenses
Valid Class C California driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
Special Requirements
Ability to work nights and weekends.
