What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Technician I position at City of Osage Beach?
An entry level position within the Parks Department performing a wide variety of assignments including organizing and marketing park events and tournaments and maintenance and construction in the City parks and facilities.
The following examples are meant to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive:
- Operate small truck with attached utility trailer, riding and push mowers, weed eater, hedge trimmer, and other related small equipment.
- Perform general grounds maintenance at all City Parks, including litter pick up, trash removal, mowing and trimming grounds, landscaping (flowers, bushes), and ball diamond maintenance.
- Clean all paved surfaces with blower.
- Maintain facilities by cleaning restrooms daily, replenish paper products daily, and clean concession stand as required.
- Perform general building maintenance at all park facilities, including minor carpentry work, minor electrical and plumbing work, minor repairs and rehabilitation, and painting.
- Report any damaged, broken property, or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Perform routine maintenance and service on motor vehicles and equipment.
- Follow departmental rules, policies and procedures, and assists fellow employees in same.
- Follow rules and policies to be in compliance with safe working practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Missouri Drivers License.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- One year experience in a position equivalent to a Parks Technician.
OR
- Combination of education, training, or experience which would qualify for the position as determined by the City Administrator and Parks & Recreation Manager.
- Construction equipment, materials, and methods employed in parks department operation and maintenance.
- Hazards and safety precautions common in City parks and facilities.
- Carry out general mechanical tasks.
- Maintain detailed accurate records and reports.
- Operate City vehicles in accordance with state laws and City Policies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions with limited supervision.
