This position will aid with department operations as it pertains to maintenance of parks grounds, buildings, and special use facilities (water park, amphitheater, Lakeshore Pavilion) and special events. Performing maintenance operations such as custodial operation; turf and landscape maintenance, facility and amenity maintenance and aiding in special event operations. Responsible and accountable for general maintenance, cleanup duties and safe operation of City owned grounds and facilities.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Light duty dump/pick-up trucks, trailers, utility carts, grounds maintenance equipment including mowers and weed whips, power and hand tools, phone, and mobile or portable radio.

Essential Duties And Responsbilities
- Park Facility and Grounds Operations (90%): Operate light vehicles, commercial mowers, lawn tractors, small grass cutting/hedge trimming machinery, power tools. Mow grass (with a push mower or riding lawn mower), pick up litter and debris. Use power trimmer to weed whip. Water and weed flower beds, baskets, trees and other landscaped areas. Apply mulch to landscape, blow and rake walkways. Clean and perform maintenance tasks at pool, including cleaning of recreation equipment. Clean and perform maintenance tasks at boat launch and Riverwalk services. Clean and perform custodial operations for restrooms, shelters and other public use areas. Collect and dispose of recyclables, garbage and litter. Open and close facilities as directed. Perform seasonal operation set up such as clearing trails, cleaning equipment, putting up trail and park signage, and setting up sports fields. Maintain athletic fields and prepare baseball and softball fields for games.
- Special Event Operations (10%): Assist with setup, tear-down and the operation of special events and functions. Move supplies, picnic tables and equipment as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 16 years old (vehicle operation restrictions will apply to those who are 16 and 17; no restrictions for staff who are 18 or older)
- Possess a valid driver's license
