What You’ll Do
Engage in a variety of critical tasks to maintain and enhance our water utility systems:
- Water Utility Work: Repair, replace, and maintain water services, mains, hydrants, valves, and valve boxes. This role demands mechanical skills and physical strength, with tasks performed following specific instructions.
- Independent Operations: Post-training, work independently without immediate supervision. Your efforts will be reviewed by the management team to ensure high standards and quality results.
Responsibilities Snapshot
- Water Systems Maintenance: Install and repair water mains, laterals, fire hydrants, and valves. Make service taps, assist with cut-ins, and classify soil. Handle water meters—removal, testing, repairs, setting, and installation. Locate stop boxes and check for leaks and stoppages, addressing citizen complaints about water bills, leaks, and meter issues.
- Service Operations: Perform service turn-ons and turn-offs, thaw water services and meters, flush hydrants, and exercise water valves.
- Emergency Response: Address after-hour call-ins for water main breaks, leaks, or related emergencies.
- Equipment Handling: Operate various equipment essential for constructing and maintaining water works facilities.
Who You Are
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Class B CDL with no air brake restriction is needed at the time of application.
- Experience: At least two years in water distribution system maintenance or a comparable mix of education and experience.
