EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
No City residency requirement.
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test.
Normal Work Hours: Variable Hours - PT/SEA/TMP
Salary Range: $15-20 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities
As a Communications Intern, you'll:
- Write and edit articles for the City's website and newsletters.
- Edit and proofread City communications for clarity, grammar and adherence to AP style and City guidelines.
- Develop advertising and marketing plans.
- Update and maintain the City's website and digital asset management system.
- Create engaging visuals for social media and the City's website.
- Plan and draft content for the City's social media calendar.
- Ensure consistent use of the City's branding across materials.
- Assist at City events, capturing photos and videos to support communications efforts.
- Shadow the Strategic Communications Director during media engagements.
- Contribute fresh ideas in team brainstorming sessions.
- Provide general support for day-to-day communications team operations.
- Learn about the City government operations and strategic communications planning.
EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in journalism, communications or a similar field or recent graduates from an accredited college or university.
- Required: Experience in Desktop publishing software
- Preferred: Web development applications, such as WordPress. Photo and video software editing using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and PremierePro), or similar editing software such as Avid.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Excellent writing, research and editing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A passion for storytelling and a curiosity to explore creative solutions.
- Familiarity with multimedia content creation and graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
