What are the responsibilities and job description for the CODE ENFORCEMENT SIGN AIDE - P/T [FLSA: Non-exempt; SHIFT: 12 hrs/week, alternating weekends] position at City of Oviedo?
THIS IS A REPOST.
Performs work removing illegally-placed signs from the City’s rights of way, from utility poles, boxes and other equipment within the City’s rights of way and from City properties; does related work as required. Contact with residents, property owners, business owners and other citizens is generally minimal but considerable tact and courtesy are required when such contact is encountered. Work is performed under the supervision of the Code Enforcement Manager. (This is a non-benefit-eligible position.)

Operates a standard-sized pickup truck safely on streets, highways and rights of way.
Demonstrates knowledge of, and obeys all local and state traffic laws.
Gets in and out of the truck constantly throughout their shift.
Demonstrates knowledge of vehicles safety lights, flashers, strobes, overhead lights and any other safety equipment in or on the vehicle.
Negotiates curbs, slopes and a variety of terrain when maneuvering the truck from the main travel portion of the roadway without damaging the vehicle.
Demonstrates understanding of what constitutes illegally-placed signs, generally referred to as snipe signs, within the City’s rights of way, on utility poles, boxes and other equipment within the City’s rights of way and from City properties; removes those signs that are considered to be illegally placed.
Uses knowledge of the City’s rights of way, City properties, and Municipal City limits in performance of duties.
Uses small tools like crowbars, pry tools or other devices to safely remove illegally-placed signs from the City’s rights of way, from utility poles, boxes, and other equipment within the City’s rights of way and from City properties.
Operates a two-way phone/radio and cell phone/camera.
Completes pertinent records, reports, and/or logs of daily activities.
Performs related tasks as required.
High School diploma or G.E.D. Valid driver license (must obtain Florida driver license within 30 days of employment). An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the use and operation of a standard sized pickup truck
Thorough knowledge of the City’s rights of way, City properties, and Municipal City limits.
Thorough understanding of what constitutes illegally-placed signs, generally referred to as snipe signs, within the City’s rights of way, on utility poles, boxes, and other equipment within the City’s rights of way and from City properties.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to get in and out of a pickup truck safely and repetitively for an entire shift.
Ability to safely operate a standard-sized pickup truck over curbs, slopes, and a variety of
terrain when maneuvering the truck from the main travel portion of the roadway without
damaging the vehicle.
