What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at City of Paducah?
Lifeguard at the Noble Park Pool, under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager. Monitor and maintain the safety of customers, patrolling and enforcing facility rules, general cleaning, and daily maintenance of pool facilities and locker rooms. Instructing swimmers in swimming lessons. Other duties as assigned.
Illustrative Duties:
- Assists other staff with maintaining the safety of customers.
- Prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring.
- Ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
- Ability to communicate and enforce pool rules and standards to patrons.
- Assists with opening and closing procedures.
- Patrol pool facilities and enforce facility rules.
- Assists pool manager with public inquiries, concerns, and complaints to resolve issues and improve services.
- Instructs or assists classes in the fundamentals of swimming.
- Administers first aid in the event of an injury, rescues swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
- Assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-Time Seasonal
Pay Range: $12.50 - $13.00/hour
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years of age. Must be American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified. Be able to enforce rules and regulations and have good, sound judgment. Have a high level of responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to work long hours in the outdoor summer temperatures. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. Must be Lifeguard Certified through the American Red Cross. Must possess skills as necessary to ensure the safety of pool patrons.
