What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader Athletics position at City of Paducah?
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Paducah Recreation Center including front desk operations, answering telephone calls and serving customers, receiving and recording payments and membership fees, and implementing program and league schedules and activities. Assists with sports programs, camps, special events, and farmers markets as needed.
Illustrative Duties
- Work under supervisors to organize, plan, implement, and supervise daily programs, classes, leagues, and events for Paducah Recreation Center and other park facilities as assigned.
- Organize materials needed for day-to-day programs, classes, leagues, and events.
- Keep daily attendance for programs, classes, leagues, and events, record and file incident reports, registrationinformation, disciplinary action report forms, and other necessary documentation.
- Receive and record payments for programs, classes, leagues, events, and memberships. Update customer files asneeded.
- Provides excellent customer service as well as communicates with other staff, supervisors, and the public in acourteous and professional manner.
- Promotes programs, classes, leagues, events, and center memberships.
- Organize supplies and inventory daily.
- Responsible for cleaning and inspecting the recreation facility on a daily basis and reporting any work needed tosupervisors.
- Actively participate and maintain good relationships with facility users.
- Monitor recreation center areas and park facilities to ensure safety and security measures are followed. Report anyincidents to supervisors.
- Lift, move, and carry heavy boxes as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Degree or equivalent. One year of experience in recreation, sports, or customer service-related fields.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to maintain high energy and activity level, perform light to moderate manual labor, tolerate various temperatures and climates for prolonged periods of time, operate a computer keyboard, and work in Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have good customer service and communication skills and experience working with the public. Ability to operate facility management computer system, maintain quality records, and experience with payment transactions. Ability to work well with minimal daily supervision. Have a general knowledge of recreational activities or a willingness and ability to learn quickly. Ability to maintain a consistent and safe environment that is conducive to enhancing learning and the recreational experience. Must be prompt and reliable. Must be able to adapt when circumstances warrant. Must be flexible and organized. Must be willing and able to participate in planned activities. Must be willing to be guided and directed by other staff, and supervisors.
