The following education and experience will be accepted:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field plus two (2) years municipal or county government experience at a professional level in governmental treasury management, budgeting, accounting or management analysis; OR
- Associate degree in business, accounting, finance or related field plus six (6) years municipal or county government experience at a professional level in governmental treasury management, budgeting, accounting or management analysis.
Under general direction, the Fiscal Analyst position is responsible for performing a variety of professional fiscal, accounting and treasury related duties; performs analysis and development duties; maintains specialized financial records and statistics; performs related duties as assigned; reports to Assistant Finance Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts analyses of monthly cash and investments, revenues and expenditures, monitors department budgets, provides analysis of trends and prepare related reports.
Serves as a security Administrator for banking provider’s online financial platform.
Prepares journal entries for entry into financial system.
Analyzes and documents changes in line items accounts between the budget and actual transactions throughout the year.
Works with staff to obtain data sources and follow-up on missing and/or unclear information.
Researches and analyzes data, develops or revises processes or policies based on research, and submits prepared report findings to supervisor.
Conducts fiscal and general research for Finance, the City Manager’s Office, and other divisions, prepares reports and analysis on findings, and presents alternative solutions for consideration.
Informs program managers of the status and availability of funds.
Develops and maintains databases, spreadsheets and other fiscal reporting mechanisms.
Produces monthly reports, statistical reports or other regularly scheduled reports.
Attends meetings, Council workshops and Public Hearings as necessary.
May require work in excess of 40 –hour work week to complete certain tasks.
Performs other duties and work special projects as directed.
