What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Compliance Technician - Planning & Zoning position at City of Palm Beach Gardens?
This position is responsible for performing technical and administrative tasks with researching and compiling information on planning issues. Assists in the development review process to ensure building permits are consistent with site plans and development orders.

- Provides information to operational and administrative personnel for their decision-making purposes
- Researches and compiles information; prepares reports
- Monitors development and construction process to Certificates of Occupancy or final inspection
- Obtains, assembles, summaries and analyzes basic data involved in planning, such as land use, population, economic characteristics, traffic, land development and other factors pertinent to a comprehensive planning program, as needed
- Prepares text, graphic and illustrative materials for reports and publications on planning subjects
- Prepares basic correspondence relating to the planning activity
- Assists in special projects
- Performs inspections during construction to enforce landscape ordinances and codes of the City of Palm Beach Gardens
- Receives complaints, examines and coordinates with landscape architects and developers to achieve Certificates of Occupancy
- Performs field inspections during the planning phase of development to assist in compliance of landscape ordinances and codes of the City
- Performs site and building inspection for compliance with the approved architectural landscape and site plans
- Reviews construction plans and building permits for compliance with the approved plans
- Reviews Business Tax Receipts for compliance with zoning
- Assists Development Compliance Manager in monitoring conditions of approval for various development orders
- Assists applicants in the process of obtaining building permits and Certificates of Occupancy
- Assists in coordinating with other departments for the issuance of building permits and Certificates of Occupancy
- Performs any other related work as required or assigned; including assisting the City Forester
- Processes zoning confirmations, variances, minor conditional uses, sign permits, liquor licenses, special events and live entertainment permits
- Assists with the review of time extension petitions, annual reports and zoning confirmation requests
- Engages in Emergency Management Training & helps departmental Emergency Management responsibilities
- Performs emergency operations duties as assigned.
- Attends scheduled evening meetings of various advisory boards or task forces, when requested
- High School diploma or equivalent, and college level course work in urban planning or related field, and
- Knowledge of urban planning, or
- Any related combination of education, training and experience
- Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record
