Summary
This position assists in planning and day-of-coordination for department-wide special events including booking entertainment, vendor communication, site maps, setup/breakdown, and event volunteers. Event planning experience and strong communication skills are preferred.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position is supervised by the assigned supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This position assists in supervising assigned part-time staff and all recreation volunteers.
Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities
- Has responsibilities related to developing a comprehensive Recreation program, management of the program and developing events and programs to attract volunteers.
- Makes certain all staff follow and adhere to all facility rules as outlined in the City’s Policies and Procedures Manual
- Performs all task related duties as directed by supervisor(s)
- Responsible for assigned duties in the overall operation of a comprehensive Recreation program that benefits the services provided to the community and supplement of the Departments activities.
- Performs a variety of administrative functions such as typing, computer research, record keeping, report and policy development and operational recommendations.
- Works various hours, including early mornings or nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
- Ability to operate a City vehicle as division needs require
- Ability to maintain a neat and clean appearance
- Ability to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends and some holidays
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, and
Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration preferred, or
Minimum of two years professional recreation experience
Any related combination of education, training and experience
Special Qualifications/Preferences
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record required.
