THE POSITION: Under general supervision performs a variety of custodial and building maintenance duties related to the cleaning and maintenance of assigned Department and/or facilities; and performs all other related work as assigned.
Part-time positions are available:
- Part-time: .50 FTE position which works approximately twenty (20) hours per week
- Part-time: .75 FTE position which works approximately thirty (30) hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of routine and general cleaning and maintenance activities on equipment and facilities.
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.
- Clear and clean gutters, curbs, culverts, and catch basins; perform general grounds, clean-up, and outdoor cleaning; perform other minor maintenance and repair tasks as necessary.
- Empty and clean wastebaskets, and other receptacles; pick up and empty trash on facility grounds.
- Maintains accurate records, files, and logs.
- Operate and maintenance of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the performance of assigned duties.
- Perform maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment and systems.
- Performs minor building maintenance.
- Clean, polish, and sanitize building surfaces including walls, stairs, and floors; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean and maintain facility restrooms; clean mirrors, fixtures, floors, and walls; replace and maintain toiletry supplies.
- Prepare rooms and arrange furniture for meetings and special events.
- Observe and report the need for repairs; if possible, make minor repairs.
- Observe and implement safe work practices and procedures.
- Assist Maintenance Technicians as required.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Experience:
One (1) year of janitorial, custodial, sanitation, hospitality, and/or grounds maintenance experience is required.
Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
License or Certificates:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain a valid California driver license with a satisfactory driving record is required. (A driving record may be deemed unsatisfactory for any of the following reasons: three or more moving violations or reportable accident within the last three years; conviction of driving under the influence within the last five years.)
- Possession of, or ability to obtain upon appointment, an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, which is approved through the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required.
- Must be willing and able to work various hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Incumbent will be enrolled in the California Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Pull Notice Program. The DMV Pull Notice Program provides information on the incumbents driving record and driving record status on a periodic basis to the City.
- Incumbent must successfully complete, or have completed, the necessary pre-employment/placement background investigation, physical, and drug screen.

Environmental Conditions:
This position works in a field environment, travel site to site, and shop environment or Aviation environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, motorized equipment, inclement weather conditions, and potentially dangerous situations and may work on slippery or uneven surfaces; may be exposed to emergency situations.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods; moderate lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, kneeling, bending, climbing; operating motorized equipment and vehicles; move and lift up to 25 pounds; communicate in person; driving a vehicle for extended periods.
