What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Inspector III position at City of Pasadena?
Duties: Performs inspections at various locations within city limits to identify health violations and determines compliance with City, State and Federal codes. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Responds to citizen complaints and investigates health violations by inspecting various properties and establishments throughout the city. Inspections include, but are not limited to high grass, raw sewage, trash and debris, stagnant water, mold, illegal dumping, no water service and swimming pools. Consults directly with citizens during inspections to educate and promote compliance with applicable laws and ordinances. Conducts Certificate of Occupancy inspections. Performs annual permitting inspections for ambulance services, salvage yards, precious metal dealers, secondhand metal dealers, used tire generators, public pools and liquid waste transporters. Prepares detailed daily reports including: reports of findings and recommendations; citations; and complaint forms. Drives a City vehicle to and from inspection locations.
Qualifications: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent. Minimum two to four years of related experience or combination of experience/training and college education. Ability to obtain certification as a Code Enforcement Officer by the State of Texas within one year of employment. Ability to obtain certification as a Certified Pool Operator within one year of employment. Demonstrate effective communication, writing and analytical skills. State of Texas driver's license.
