What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Clerical Assistant II - Library (Public Services) position at City of Pasadena?
Duties: Provides assistance at all customer service desks throughout the library, answering questions in person, online and by telephone. Processes library card applications, issues new/replacement library cards to customers. Inputs and updates customer account information. Shelve books and processes hold requests for library customers. Bills customers for lost, damaged, and missing items. Collects and processes library fees and/or refunds. Assists library customers with the use of on-line catalogs, databases and computers. Assists in promoting all library collections through designing and constructing displays, signage and bookmarks. Provides reader's advisory to library customers. May assist with collection development, weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects. Research, manage, and present library programming and outreach. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. PREFFERED: An Associates or some college education preferred. Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable. Experience working with children a plus; bilingual in English and Spanish and American Red Cross first aid training a plus.
