SUMMARY
Performs maintenance, repair, and construction of all city roadways, fleet, buildings, and parks facilities.
Repairs and maintains sewers. Paints traffic lanes and removes painted lane lines. Designs, layout, paints,
assembles and installs signs. Performing skilled and unskilled manual task, including the operation of
trucks and other mechanical equipment, including specialized equipment. General laboring tasks as
needed. Fills in for Weekend Watch/Ice Control Person as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate a truck/heavy equipment mechanical equipment, trucks, tools, and other equipment as
needed to complete job assignments
Repair asphalt and concrete
Install street traffic signs and traffic control devices
Install road line painting and crosswalk striping
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic controls and signs
General repair and maintenance of all municipal buildings
Assist in the repair and maintenance of sewer lines and system
Operate Street Sweeper
Collect refuse, recyclables, solid waste, bulky item, and other items
Plow snow and treat for ice control, as available
Shovel municipal public ways, including parks & recreation facilities
Fertilize, plant, water, and cut grass, trees, and other vegetation
Layout fields and paint lines on all city-owned fields
Supervise a small labor crew, as directed by Supervisor
Order and pick up supplies for animals and farm grounds
Perform security rounds at city facilities
Feed and clean animals owned by the city
Clean and maintain all parks and recreation areas, buildings, athletic fields, playgrounds, tennis
and basketball courts, park grounds, passive parks, gateways, Daggett Farm, Veterans Pools, cemeteries, and any other related parks and city properties, including mulching, cultivating,
weeding, raking, cutting, shoveling and any other manual work that is related to grounds
maintenance
Perform routine maintenance and repair on city vehicles
Clean garage area
Assist mechanics
Pick up and deliver materials and supplies
Maintain inventory of supplies
Perform manual labor
Prepare routine reports
Perform related work
Additional duties/training as a result of modernization may be required
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months of related experience and /
or training.
CUSTOMER AND PERSONAL SERVICE SKILLS
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Additional certifications/licenses to fulfill job specifications, as directed by the Supervisor
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to
finger, handle, or feel; use power tools; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl; see; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, and depth perception.

Pay: $47,289.84 - $50,470.57 per year
