Senior Accountant

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Accountant to support and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Finance Department.

The Senior Accountant earns a competitive salary of $58,900 to $80,000/per year, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the city's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

A DAY IN LIFE AS A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant holds a critical role in the Finance Department, engaging in complex financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and compliance with fiscal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
• Reconcile bank statements and calculate tax payments and returns.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable.
• Manage and supervise accounting staff and payroll specialists.
• Audit financial transactions and documents.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.

Work Schedule:

• Eligible for flexible work hours and telecommuting options after a qualifying period, with expectations for regular attendance and hours exceeding 40 per week when necessary.

Communication:

• Maintain clear and professional communication with team members, other departments, and external auditors, ensuring accurate financial reporting and data dissemination.

Self-Development:

Priority Projects:
