The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in the overall financial management of the organization. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Month-End Close: Assist with the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing necessary data and analysis to senior management.
Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Expense Management: Monitor and analyze company expenses, ensuring proper allocation and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and support overall company objectives.
Specific Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required.
Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications: CPA or working towards CPA certification is a plus.
