SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment within the Department of Public Utilities.
- Perform electrical work on equipment up to 480V, including lighting, telecommunications, and IT applications.
- Perform repairs, improvements, and rehabilitation of existing and new equipment up to 480V
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Diagnose and correct malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and ensure compliance with codes.
- Advise management on the safety of continued equipment operation.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices.
- Order materials and supplies necessary for job functions.
- Operate man-lifts and bucket trucks.
- Troubleshoot and repair telemetry equipment, PLCs, and other low voltage sensors and signal wiring.
- Attending project planning and construction meetings as a representative of the DPU.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems specific to the Department of Public Utilities, including wastewater treatment processes, pumps, motors, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in DPU equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components of DPU equipment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards in all electrical work at the DPU.
- Collaborate with DPU staff to address electrical needs and improvements.
- Monitor and maintain electrical systems for aeration, filtration, and chemical treatment processes.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems used for monitoring and controlling operations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry systems used for remote monitoring and control of plant operations.
- Assist in the configuration and programming of SCADA and telemetry systems to optimize infrastructure performance.
- Assist with other functions of the City of Perrysburg, as needed.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with developments and procedures and maintenance of all licensures.
- Overtime will be assigned as needed.
- Work conditions may include working in inclement weather and outside of normal working hours.
- Electrical troubleshooting equipment up to 480V.
- Various hand and power tools.
- 50-foot bucket truck.
- Any other equipment necessary to fulfill job requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent certificate.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Experience with wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, PLCs, and telemetry systems is preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician’s Certification.
- CDL Class B within six months.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of electrical maintenance and procedures, including safety standards.
- Skill in equipment maintenance and basic computer skills for communication and record-keeping.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
