General Description :
The Program Coordinator will serve as a contracted employee and is responsible for the implementation of the Targeted Tobacco Prevention grant from the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth. The City of Petersburg is the grant recipient and the Petersburg Public Library is the fiscal agent.
The position will be under the direct supervision of the Director of the Petersburg Public Library (PPL), but will work with additional key Team partners such as the PPL Youth Services Director and the designated staff at Westview Early Childhood Education Center to implement the updated Al's Pals Curriculum at Westview and its expansion to Pre-K / Daycares in Petersburg.
The Coordinator will work closely with the Team, including the Early Childhood Workgroup, on strategic planning and sustainability and is accountable to the Work Plan goals and objectives and the grant budget.
The Coordinator is responsible for all reporting requirements of the grant including the maintenance of the grant notebook and the collection and recording of data for program evaluation. In carrying out the duties of this position, the Coordinator must be able to work both independently and as a team member; maintain confidentiality; and exercise sound judgment to implement programs.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions : (percentage of time on each function / category)
- Coordinate the implementation of the updated Al's Pals curriculum at Westview as outlined in the Work Plan. (40%)
- Establish relationships with Petersburg area Pre-K / Daycares by assisting the PPL Youth Services Department in Story Time and with other outreach efforts in order to expand the number of sites involved with Al's Pals curriculum (20%)
- Collect and record program data and assist with the preparation of reports and evaluations in an accurate, timely manner. (10%)
- Handle purchasing and invoicing. (10%)
- Maintain internal communication through the dissemination of relevant information for trainings, minutes, prevention best-practices, or scheduled events. (10%)
- Maintain external communication by representing the grant and PPL at community events / meetings as per the grant. (10%)
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited college or university or 4 years related service required. Experience working with early childhood youth in prevention preferred. Required knowledge :
