General DescriptionThe purpose of this class within the organization is to provide collection services for delinquent taxpayers. This class conducts various collection activities including servicing payment plans, filing small claims for delinquent accounts, tracking payments and transactions, and all other collection-related activities. This class works under the supervision of the Revenue Collection Administrator or his/her designee.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job/class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job/class as necessary. Essential Functions: Services delinquent tax accounts for real property, personal property, and utility accounts.Files small claims with courts for the collection of delinquent taxes.Confers with customers by phone or in person to resolve delinquent tax issues.Reviews account for the accuracy of data and make corrections to accounts.Takes orders for new services and explains bill process to new customers.Assists Billing & Collections Division with special projects.Prepares applications and enters collection-related data.Additional Duties: Calculates penalty and interest charges on delinquent accounts.Obtains and examines all relevant information related to the collection of delinquent taxes.Performs work related work as assigned.Responsibilities, Requirements and ImpactsData Responsibility: Data Responsibility refers to information, knowledge, and conceptions obtained by observation, investigation, interpretation, visualization, and mental creation.
