Job Title Finance Receptionist Account Clerk
Classification Department of Finance, non-exempt City employee
Salary Range $19.00 per hour - $21.00 per hour
Reports to Director of Finance and Finance Supervisor
Summary/Objective
- Responsible for being the positive point of reference for queries, requests or issues and forwarding necessary matter to the appropriate personnel. Oversee stocking and purchasing of office supplies and operation and maintenance of general office equipment.
- Provide coverage for other Department of Finance positions as requested.
Essential Functions
- Answer multi-line telephone system and properly distribute calls to appropriate personnel.
- Greet customers entering City Hall in a positive, pleasant manner and assist them as necessary.
- Sort and distribute daily mail.
- Open and sort; monthly utility bills and property tax payments and prepare payments as necessary for Accounts Receivable Account Clerk.
- Maintain copy room in neat, clean and orderly manner.
- Oversee office supplies including stocking and purchasing of supplies as necessary in an efficient manner.
- Maintain computerized employee time off calendar.
- Provide customer service to individuals’ queries, concerns and requests as appropriate and direct to other sources for information as appropriate.
- Maintain and update voter registration records and assist with issuance of absentee voter applications and ballots
- Provide assistance with office equipment and contact vendors for necessary maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Maintains employee and customer confidence by keeping certain information confidential.
- Provide backup to other Finance operations as required.

Physical Demands
- Ability to use telephone, computers, copiers and related office equipment. Ability to lift boxes of office supplies (copy paper, etc.).
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- Office position (8 hours per day) Monday through Friday, currently from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Travel
- No travel required for daily activities. Minimal travel required for periodic training.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent, multi-line telephone and general office equipment experience, good verbal communication skills, customer service skills, computer experience in accounting, intermediate word skills, basic data entry and excel skills. Work experience in accounting office environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
- College associates degree in accounting
- Advanced customer service skills
- Knowledge of relevant accounting software
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Advanced word and excel software skills.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- College bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Knowledge of Municipal services
- Understanding of internal controls
