City of Pewaukee seeks an experienced Utility Superintendent for its water and sanitary sewer utility. This position engages in skilled technical, administrative and supervisory work to assist the Utility Manager and Assistant Utility Manager with the planning, supervision, and operation of the City’s water and sanitary sewer utility, with primary emphasis on the day-to-day operation and performance of the Utility, and directly supervises the operations staff. - Supervises utility operators and maintenance workers, including establishing work assignments, work schedules, procedures and methods of work, employee training and development, providing guidance and assistance, discipline, addressing workplace issues, establishing goals and objectives, and recommending hiring, promotions, demotions and terminations.
- Plan, organize, assign and schedule repair, maintenance and service work of equipment, pump houses, and lift stations.
- Direct staff, emergency personnel and contractors in the investigation, correction, and repair of processes, facilities, work sites, equipment etc.
- Maintain meter program, including residential change outs, large meter testing, meter installation, repair and reading.
- Perform regular reviews and make all necessary corrections or modifications to the utility operations manual, practices and schedules.
- Maintain, repair and inspect all aspects of the sanitary sewer collection system including recordkeeping.
- Direct staff and perform locating of Utility underground facilities.
- Monitor and adjust the operations of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition computer system.
- Prepare and review sanitary sewer and water punch lists.
- Prepare required monthly DNR Electronic Monitoring Reports (EMOR), quarterly and annual reports. Participate in the preparation of other reports including the Consumer Confidence Report, Water Withdrawal Report, monthly sewage flow reporting, Industrial Pretreatment Reports, Wastewater Compliance Maintenance report, and the Public Service Commission Water Report; oversee the maintenance of utility records, files and documentation.
- Must reside within a 40-minute commute. Required to be available for on-call approximately every six weeks.
Required qualifications include:
- Three to six years related experience and/or training with at least two years as a licensed waterworks operator
- Two years supervisory experience
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school in water supply, environmental health and technology or related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must have Wisconsin DNR Waterworks Groundwater, Distribution and “V”(VOC) Special Treatment certifications.
- Must have a valid Wisconsin driver's license and an acceptable driving record; a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is preferred.
