What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at City of Pflugerville?
As a Lifeguard for the City, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons by preventing and effectively responding to all emergencies.
The City of Pflugerville is offering all Lifeguards a one-time Longevity Bonus of up to $500, payable at the end of the season, and discounted Lifeguard classes ($50) with a summer commitment. We also have a referral program.
- Ensure the safety of facility patrons by strictly but courteously enforcing all pool rules and regulations.
- Interact with and educate the public about safety concerns.
- Perform with extreme prudence, emergency service by rescuing, resuscitating, or administering first aid as required.
- Attend mandatory in-service training and perform all lifesaving skills as required.
- Assist in maintaining the pool, deck, and entire facility in a safe and sanitary condition
- Other duties as assigned
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or be able to successfully complete the course within 1 month of employment.
- Must be at least 15 years old at the time of employment.
Visual and auditory sensory perception.
Excellent swimming skills to include rescue techniques.
During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
Daytime, evening and weekend shifts possible. Holiday shifts also possible.
Exposure to large crowds, noises and extreme temperature variations possible.
Frequent sitting or standing.
Constant alert and careful viewing of the pool.
Occasional strenuous physical activity, including carrying, pulling, pushing, dragging, and holding up to 30 lbs. of furniture/equipment.
During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
