The City of Phoenix, Aviation Department manages and operates Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix Deer Valley Airport, and Phoenix Goodyear Airport. The Aviation Department Technology Division is seeking a highly motivated Application Developer to join the Business Applications and GIS team. IT professionals on this team work closely with professionals in other technology environments, other business units within the department, and in other City departments; thus, offering opportunities for continued professional growth. Additionally, technology training is available to allow employees the opportunity to enhance their technical skills.

The Application Developer will be utilizing integration services, API management, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint Online, Visual Studio to develop software solutions based on business requirements. The incumbent will be responsible in delivering web applications that are designed based on "mobile first" concept and agile methodology. This position provides subject matter expertise in system architecture and high-level design, taking ownership of features and other aspects of the system, supporting development efforts, researching, and developing new features and approaches, code reviews, and proof of concept demonstrations. The Application Developer position is responsible for working directly on building user flows, interactive features, design and improve customer experience, and to provide support for critical airport business systems.

Key Duties Include

• Follow proper code development methodologies and principles.
• Manage and maintain airport websites and provide technical support.
• Manage and upgrade existing portfolio of applications, including security updates.
• Work independently or as a member of a functional and technical team to develop recommendations, design and develop enhancements to existing systems.
• Actively engage in application system administration, detailed analysis, program design and development, documentation, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications.
  
  
  

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Possess the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot end devices and peripheral issues.
• Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and support cloud-based and on premises applications.
  
  
  

SALARY

Pay Range: $67,849 to $110,510 annually.

Hiring Range: $67,849 to $100,235 annually.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of experience in computer applications programming and development and systems analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• One year experience writing SQL/stored procedures in an RDMS.
• One year of experience developing, designing, and testing rest APIs and Web services.
• Two years of experience developing software using Microsoft .NET C#.
• Two years of experience developing web technologies like HTML5, JavaScript, Angular, React, CSS, etc.
• Experience with MS Power Platform/Power Apps.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
• Experience with REST, SOAP, and SOA or Microservice architectures.
• Experience supporting web applications using Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) or similar web server technologies.
