About This Position

The Municipal Court provides equal access to justice, professional and impartial treatment, and the fair and time resolution of all court matters. Municipal Court performs their responsibilities in a manner that serves to maintain the public's trust and confidence in the Court as an institution and to enhance the public's respect for the rule of law, while preserving and protecting individual rights guaranteed under the constitution.

The Audit & Support Division of Phoenix Municipal Court currently has an opening for a Court Account Clerk III position in the Revenue & Trust section. This work group is responsible for auditing, refunding, and disbursing restitution and bail payments; timely recording daily and monthly statistical reports; processing daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries, invoices, returned mail and phone inquiries. Court Account Clerk III's perform highly skilled paraprofessional accounting work using computerized systems in a specialized area or in a variety of complex City functions.

Duties May Include

  • Providing direct customer service.
  • Reviewing and/or auditing financial records.
  • Detecting and taking steps to correct errors or discrepancies.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and verifying City computer data.
  • Creating, reviewing, and/or auditing utility billing.
  • Reconciling accounts.
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.


IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledgeable of banking policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • Ability to provide customer service face to face and over the phone.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish.


SALARY

Pay and Hiring Range: $21.02 - $29.58 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of bookkeeping and clerical accounting experience,
  • including experience in preparing financial reports,
  • supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
  • This position is subject to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background standards. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted and will have their fingerprints used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Any records returned will be reviewed to determine the candidate's suitability for the job.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience with/in:
    • Cash handling practices/transactions.
    • Providing training to internal staff.
    • Reconciling receivable and payable statements, reports, logs, journal entries and/or other documents.
    • Processing invoices for payments.
    • A heavy customer service environment.
    • Performing highly detailed data entry in a fast-paced environment and maintaining/auditing records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and SAP.
