The Information Technology Services (ITS) department has an opening for an Information Technology Project Coordinator. In this role you will support the ITS Project Management Office (PMO) with coordinating short-term information technology initiatives and support the team of Project Managers with delivering large/complex technology projects. Projects include, but are not limited to, transformational security initiatives, infrastructure modernization, and enterprise software application modernization. This role is key for assisting with managing waterfall and/or agile projects and plays a critical role in delivering projects successfully. This position is highly visible and may interact with all levels of the City.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate discussions with various City of Phoenix Department personnel to document requirements and specifications, including intended outcomes, features, and functionality.
- Develop and document functional specifications associated with system enhancements.
- Ensure clarity of documented requirements to prevent scope creep, gold plating, or non-value-added activities.
- Document business requirements according to industry best practices and City of Phoenix PMO processes.
- Document functional workflow diagrams to capture business goals and high-level scope.
- Coordinate project deliverables with the Project Manager, including project meeting scheduling, activity tracking, status report creation.
- Demonstrate superior customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
This position is on a hybrid schedule with some in-office time required based on the business need.
The temporary position will be funded through December 31, 2025, and will be reviewed in a future budget cycle to determine if the position will be extended, ended, or made regular. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially into the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable and the employee will still contribute to their pension. Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered "at-will" and employees may be separated at any time.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to facilitate project working sessions, executive project briefings, and prepare required status reports.
- Ability to prepare meeting agendas, document meeting minutes, and track project issues, risks, and tasks.
- Ability to develop requirements based on professional standards (i.e., PMI or similar).
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Blend of technical expertise, leadership, and business analysis skills.
- Advanced to expert-level proficiency with creating high-quality executive-level documents.
SALARY
Pay Range: $80,454.40 to $124,800.00/annually.
Hiring Range: $80,454.40 to $113,193.60/annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of experience in systems analysis, configuration, and testing of enterprise applications.
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Five years of experience coordinating or leading projects or gathering business requirements in a large-scale environment.
- Five years of experience documenting large project requirements.
- Five years of experience working as a business analyst and/or project coordinator on technology initiatives (i.e., software, infrastructure, data analytics, security).
- Five years of experience managing project budgets or vendor invoices.
- Five years of experience tracking and analyzing project deliverables.
- Three years of experience working with Microsoft Project or Project Online.
- Professional and current certification in PMI is a PLUS (PMP, Agile, and/or similar certification).
