About This Position
The Phoenix Police Department is offering a $7,500 hiring bonus to new Police Recruit. This bonus will be paid in two equal installments as follows: on your check after swearing in as a Phoenix Police Officer and on your check following successful completion of probation. In addition, if you are referred to apply by a current city employee, that city employee may receive a bonus of $2,500 when you have successfully been hired and passed probation. The name of the referring city employee and employee ID must be specified on the job application at time of submission in order for the payments to be awarded.

SALARY
Police recruits are paid during the 26-week Police Academy an hourly rate of $33.72/hour or $70,137.60 annually. After successful completion of the police academy, new officers will earn $35.75/hour or $74,360 annually. Opportunities are possible for additional compensation from overtime and/or off-duty work are available. Officers receive annual increases and can earn up to $51.84/hour or $107,827.

Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants are to be at least 20.5 years old within two months of the date of application. Must be 21 years of age before graduating from the academy.
- United States citizenship.
- A high school diploma, home school diploma, or a GED equivalency.
- Positions in the Police Department must meet the polygraph and background standards that are appropriate to sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here .
