About This Position
The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserve land with more than 200 miles of trails; 187 parks; 33 community and recreation centers; eight golf courses; 29 pools; and classes, programs, and sports leagues. The Parks and Recreation Department also develops and maintains new parks, park amenities and facilities with funding from a variety of sources.
The Recreation Supervisor (Sports) in the Special Operations Division of the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the operation of five sports facilities including Reach 11 Sports Complex, Rose Mofford Sports Complex, Rose Mofford Softball Complex, Papago Softball Complex, and Desert West Complex. The position is also responsible for the contract management with outside organizations for four additional facilities and concessions including Phoenix Municipal Stadium, Papago Sports Complex, American Family Fields of Phoenix, and Horse Lovers Park. The position additionally manages the implementation program for Citywide Softball and Youth Sports, and the collection and evaluation of information for reports and projects. Strong writing skills are critical.
Additionally, this positions is responsible for staff supervision of approximately 95 part and full-time employees with three direct reports; City Council and Parks Board reports and presentations; management of a nine million dollar budget; coordination and overseeing of capital improvement projects; evaluation of ongoing efficiency and improvement processes; working closely with outside businesses, other governmental agencies, and community groups; review and input on related vendor contracts; the aggregation and presentation of related information including the economic impact of the above facilities, and the maintenance of high level turf fields and sports courts. This position will report to the Deputy Director of the Special Operations Division.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Pay Range/Hiring Range: $78,540.80 - $110,510.40 annually.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Exhibits strong written communication skills and experience presenting information in different written formats.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with high profile organizations, community agencies, local organizations and neighborhood or sports related groups.
- Proficient in drafting and/or managing contracts and agreements and reviewing and editing scope of work for vendor contracts.
- Knowledge of, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of full-time professional supervisory experience in recreation.
- Bachelor's degree in recreation, leisure studies, fine or performing arts, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
