ABOUT THIS POSITION

Technical Services is a customer service driven section of the Phoenix Fire Department that provides Information Technology solutions to the Phoenix Fire Department and dispatch services to 28 fire agencies located throughout the valley. The Technical Services Section provides leadership, technology planning, implementation, and support of the specialized applications and systems required to meet the growing needs of the Phoenix Fire Department and its dispatch members.


Technical Services is looking to fill a full-time temporary position to assist with the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Modernization project within the Mobile Computer Terminal (MCT) Shop. The temporary position is currently funded through June 2028. This position will perform project assistance, administrative, and hands-on tasks associated with a large-scale hardware deployment. The position will work under the direction of an IT Systems Specialist and be responsible for software image creation, hardware imaging, pre-deployment hardware configuration, fleet software update administration, and IT asset management records. This position will be expected to develop procedures and documentation, identify process improvements, provide training, and track/report project milestones to core CAD modernization project team members.


The primary job duties of this position include the following:

  • Microsoft Windows MCT image development.
  • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) task sequence creation/deployment.
  • Ongoing MCT image maintenance.
  • Large-scale hardware deployment imaging/configuration.
  • Development and execution of MCT software testing sequences.
  • Fleet software update package management and deployment administration.
  • Active Directory administration associated with MCT software update packages.
  • Maintain CAD vehicle/hardware ID records.
  • SAP IT Asset Management.
  • Develop and document procedures, process improvements, training documentation, and project milestone tracking in an intelligible manner to be transparently shared at both team and organizational levels.


This position will participate in an after-hours support rotation and work in the office 5 days a week at 150 S. 12th St. Phoenix, Arizona. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially into the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable, and the employee will still contribute to their pension. Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered "at-will" and employees may be separated at any time.


SALARY

Pay Range: $78,540.80 to $110,510.40 annually.

Hiring Range:$78,540.80 to $105,248.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of PC, server, switching, routing, and multiplexing hardware, and software.
  • 15 hours of appropriate information technology course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Two years of experience:

  • Performing Microsoft Windows system administration for a large-scale deployment.
  • With Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Tanium.
  • Supporting fleet software update applications such as Motorola Airmobile or New Boundary Technologies Prism Deploy.
  • Writing scripts utilizing Windows PowerShell and Batch Files.
  • With Active Directory administration.
  • Utilizing IT Asset Management Systems such as SAP.
