- WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show five (5) years of full-time experience in Traffic Signal Technology, IT/Computer Networking, IT Engineering, or a related field. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION : The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited institution in IT/Computer Networking, IT Engineering, or a related field. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training.)
- EQUIVALENCY : Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above) . - Directs routine maintenance activities for the City of Pittsburgh ITS fiber and radio communication networks.
- Coordinates the integration of field communication equipment for ITS projects.
- Recommends capital improvement projects for the City of Pittsburgh ITS fiber and radio communication networks.
- Represents DOMI on all steps of the ITS software and hardware procurement process.
- Coordinates with partner agencies or private property owners for special projects.
- Maintains City of Pittsburgh ITS architecture drawings.
- Troubleshoots hardware, software, and data communications in the event of malfunctions/errors in order to maintain and/or quickly report operational functionality to the various systems at the TMC.
- Supports ITS and Traffic Signal Maintenance staff with various TMC systems.
- Assumes management responsibility for the City’s technology system specific to the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, including the development, installation, testing, oversight, operations, and maintenance of those systems.
- Evaluates and defines the technological needs of the department and recommends the purchase of new/upgrades to existing systems as needed.
- Serves as project manager on all installations and/or upgrades involving staff from multiple departments, and ensures compliance with department and all applicable Information Technology standards and strategic direction.
- Ensures that the department operates in a manner consistent with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities as they relate to the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure technology programs and procedures.
- Trains or coordinates training of DOMI personnel on all applicable technology.
- Coordinates with the Department of Innovation and Performance on upgrades and the integration of new systems into existing infrastructure.
- Participates in operation and capital budget preparation for all applicable ITS/TMC technology needs.
- Works with the Department of Law on necessary legislation and contracts.
- Serves as Right-To-Know subject matter expert for infrastructure, technology, and information systems as relates to the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure.
- Attends new product and technology training sessions; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. A non-exhaustive list of examples for training certifications this person may be asked to pursue include:
- Network: CCNA, CCNE, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP
- System Administration: RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Security , CCNA, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrative Associate, VMWare Certified Professional.
- Troubleshoots hardware, software, and data communication malfunctions/errors to maintain and/or quickly restore operational functionality.
- Performs other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
- Travels as required.
Salary : $91,021
