The Network Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the City of Pittsburgh’s network. They are responsible for ensuring that the network meets the organization's current and future needs, including security, reliability, performance, and scalability. The Network Architect creates documentation throughout the design and deployment process as a reference for future network enhancements or maintenance. After deployment, they also may manage the networks and troubleshoot any issues that arise. They analyze data traffic and system performance to determine future upgrades. This position receives supervision and management from the Senior Manager IT Infrastructure.

- WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show three (3) years of full-time Network Engineer experience which includes: performing systems maintenance, implementation and support. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Must have obtained one of the following technical certifications within the past 5 years. (CCNA, CCNE, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP). (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
- EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is seven (7) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
