The LTS team works together to support the 180 staff members serving the public each day. The Library Technology Coordinator is a content expert on behalf of libraries and works with the City Technology Solutions (TS) department and library vendors.
A proactive, positive attitude is important, along with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. Additionally, leadership and communication skills are necessary for the position as Library Technology Coordinator works with library staff, city staff, and external vendors.

Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. During a large installation or limited special project, hours could vary to meet the organization need.
Summary of Duties: The Library Technology Coordinator is responsible for managing all library technology functions serving as a content expert on behalf of libraries and working with the Technology Solutions (TS) department and outside partners. Focusing on library-related technology to ensure clear, timely communication and resolution of problems. Understanding the library technology needs, the needs of patrons and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Examples Of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of: integrated library systems, computer and print management applications, Microsoft Office Suite programs and other library technology systems; public library policies, procedures and practices; library trends and technologies; project management principles.
Skill in: Effective workplace communication, including written, verbal and active listening skills; providing guidance and instruction to others; demonstrating initiative, effective judgment, accuracy, and flexibility; navigating and using a variety of technology, software, and digital tools; working independently and as part of a team .
Education: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science, Technology, or a related Technology discipline.
Experience: Two years of experience in a technology-related position and six months of experience in a customer service environment. Experience with library technology preferred.
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certifications: Certifications related to job duty resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified Education requirements.
Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions : This is primarily an office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

- Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service and communicates with patrons to resolve technology questions or issues.

- Serves as a liaison to business partners and Technology Solutions to support effective technical solutions.
- Represents the library for all library technology projects, in consultation with the Library Technical Services Manager.
- Leads library projects and trains staff in operating new or modified systems.
- Serves as liaison between the library, City departments, and library vendors to resolve technology issues, provides assistance and input on contractual considerations, and ensures effective resolution of technology-related issues.
- Coordinates with Technology Solutions for maintenance, repair and replacement of technology and equipment, and follows up to ensure all problems are resolved in a timely manner. Maintains computer and other technology inventory for the Library.
- Under the direction of the Library Technical Services Manager and Director, coordinates technology purchases including specification writing, receiving and invoicing.
- Maintains competency on all library technology to serve as the expert for library specific technologies.
- Serves as technical advisor to the Director of Libraries, Library Technical Services Manager and library staff.
- Demonstrates a forward-thinking mindset; maintains an understanding of trends and developments in the library landscape; evaluates effectiveness of Plano Public Library activities and identifies opportunities for improvement. Works with library staff to understand technology needs to meet community expectations.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
