The City of Portage is looking for a creative and organized Recreation Program Coordinator to join our Parks & Recreation Department! If you're passionate about youth and adult recreational programs, and community engagement, this is your opportunity to make an impact.
What You'll Do:
- Plan, implement, and manage programs, emphasizing sports teams, leagues, tournaments, and rentals of sports fields, including Pickleball, Ping Pong, Corn Hole, Archery, Biking, Youth Sports Camps, wellness programs, and others as assigned.
- Assist Parks & Recreation staff in fielding and efficiently answering general inquiries about the department.
- Build rapport with community members and properly document any issues or questions that may be presented to the department.
What We're Looking For:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Secondary education in sports management or parks and recreation preferred.
- Previous pertinent experience in planning and implementing sports teams, leagues, and tournaments, as well as program development, is preferred.
- Strong availability for nights and weekends.
- Ability to work onsite and in the field.
- Ability to pass a background/driver’s license check and drug/alcohol screen.
