Departmental Philosophy:
Gym/Field supervisors play a vital role in providing recreational and social experiences in Post Falls. Supervisors are primarily responsible for providing a safe, helpful, clean environment for recreation program volunteers, participants, and spectators, through a variety of duties, to fulfill the department mission: “Provide exceptional services, facilities and opportunities to our customers and citizens.”
Gym/Field supervisors will gain in human relation skills and teamwork, leadership and training opportunities, and practice in critical problem solving, under the general direction of a Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor.

- Survey location, including parks and school grounds, to ensure that facilities are safe and ready for use and securely closed at program end.
- Assist facility users/staff with program set-up and track use of equipment.
- Communicate expectations of facility rules, policies/guidelines to participants, parents or community members, and report disruptive behavior to appropriate staff.
- Address cleanliness of building/field before, during and after programs.
- Attend to injuries or incidents, providing assistance, or first aid, if necessary.
- Accurately complete City/Department forms for review and action
- Work effectively to complete assignments and adapt to changing circumstances as necessary.
- Ability to set up and break down program equipment as trained.
- Experience working with the public and/or children.
- Knowledge of the fundamental rules/regulations of the sports is preferred, but not required.
- Communicate effectively with others, remaining calm and professional.
- Satisfactory criminal background investigation if age 18 or older.
- Life experience equal to or beyond upper level high school; teens through retirees

- Limited opportunity to participate in sport/area of supervision, depending on needs of program.
