JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of city buildings. Job duties consist of related technical duties. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient and effective maintenance of those buildings. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.
This position can start as an entry-level position in the Facilities Maintenance department and have some growth opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this classification. FACILITIES MAINTENANCE DUTIES (70%)
Diagnoses and repairs electrical issues; performs electrical repairs including but not limited to lighting, branch circuits, panel distribution systems, new equipment installation, and control wiring.
Performs plumbing repairs including but not limited to sinks, toilets, drain lines, and plumbing line excavation.
Repair and maintains HVAC systems.
Installs and repairs windows, doors, and door locks.
Installs and repairs sheetrock; paints interior and exterior surfaces.
Builds forms and pours concrete for sidewalks and ramps.
Sets up stages, bleachers, covers, and bathroom trailers for events.
Performs roof repairs.
Performs carpentry construction and repair functions.
Performs concrete finishing and masonry construction and repair functions.
SPECIAL EVENT DUTIES (10%)
Moves bathroom trailers.
Installs bleachers and stages.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE DUTIES (10%)
Maintains tools and equipment.
Performs pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
Cleans equipment.
Performs minor maintenance and repair duties.
Reports major repair needs to supervisor.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES (10%)
Assists other departments as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Two (2) years of experience in performing electrical, plumbing or carpentry work preferred.
Vocational/Trade School enrollment or graduate preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Job duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear.
Job candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress.
Job duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
Must be able to accomplish tasks on ladders, scaffolding and roofs.
Willing to work overtime.
Willing to cooperate with the workload of the department.
Willing to comply with City of Prattville rules and regulations.
Must submit to drug screenings for this safety sensitive position.
