Responsible for the operation and supervision of a municipal pool, where professionalism and public safety are of utmost importance. Assists the Assistant Pool Manager(s) with the supervision of the lifeguard and swim instructor staff, performs administrative duties, enforces rules and policies, and communicates effectively with the public. Performs responsible work enforcing water safety rules and regulations, rescuing distressed or drowning swimmers, taking appropriate first aid action and maintaining equipment. Performs necessary maintenance tasks in order to continually maintain a safe and healthy environment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Pool Manager(s).Employees in this class may work a variety of hours, be flexible, and have nontraditional work weeks and hours.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Prevents accidents through the enforcement of organizational policies, rules and regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using swimming pools.Adheres to Prosser Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures.Provides a safe swimming environment for all participants while enforcing all pool rules and regulations.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of aquatic safety principles, rules, regulations, and emergency action plans with the ability to perform them.Demonstrates good public relations when dealing with patrons, the general public and other city employees.Reports any problems, potential situations, and/or disturbances immediately to the supervisor on duty.Performs related duties as assigned including, but not limited to: Effectively rescuing victims in need of assistanceAdministering First Aid and/or CPR as neededActivating and administering the emergency action response planPerforming assigned maintenance duties ContributestoeffectiveCityoperationsbyperformingotherdutiesasassigned.Workswithotherdepartments,citizengroups,andothers.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive aquatics program;Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment;Valid First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Certification.Ability to be a team player.Ability to effectively enforce safety and health regulations relating to an aquatics program.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, instructors, and the general public.Ability to communicate effectively orally.Ability to give and understand oral instructions.
