INTRODUCTION: The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department mission: to preserve our parks and open spaces and provide essential recreational programs and cultural services in a safe, professional, and friendly manner. The department manages parks totaling over 1,100 acres, 5 community centers, and many other facilities to provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities. POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the community center Recreation Supervisor/Director, this individual will assist in providing and overseeing recreational activity for citizens of all ages, as well as day-to-day building operations. *Hiring for two locations*
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Supervise areas of the community center designated by Supervisor. Plan, organize and implement center activities, special events, and field trips. Assist with the organization of youth, adult and senior programming.Supervise and counsel youth – limited to scope of training.Any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission and abide by our organization’s values. Maintain equipment and report needed repairs.Open, close & secure community center. Inventory and stock equipment & supplies. Report community center attendance.Maintain safety at community center and report emergencies to proper authorities.Performs related duties as assigned. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS OF THE POSITION: Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned work areas. Exposure to heat and cold elements while working with the public indoors and outdoors. Exposure to odors from cleaning products, floor strippers and waxes. Exposure to moving objects such as recreation equipment may occur.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION: Some extended day, evening, and weekend hours required.Possible extreme elements of heat and cold.Possible stressful situations working with the public.Walking, sitting, standing, talking, hearing, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, writing, driving, grasping, bending, twisting.EQUIPMENT USED: Copy machine, telephone, postage meter, computer, fax machine, van and automobile, scissors and miscellaneous office equipment, cell phones, walkie-talkie and scoreboards.This job description is intended to identify essential duties and also illustrates other types of duties that may be assigned.
