The Aquatic Facility Assistant Director is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and participating in a variety of programs at a municipal aquatic center. Plans, organizes, directs and instructs diversified age and ability groups. Supervises swim instructors, lifeguards, cashiers, and other staff at the facility as well as organizes work assignments. Renders first aid and administers lifesaving care, when necessary. Prepares activity, attendance, financial and other reports; prepares payroll; assists in budget tracking and any other essential duties that may be required. Ensures facility maintenance issues are addressed accordingly. This position may be assigned to different aquatic facility locations based on the needs and demands of the aquatic program area.
About Us:Raleigh Aquatics operates four year-round aquatic facilities and four seasonal facilities. Each of the year-round facilities are managed by a team consisting of a Facility Director and several Asst. Directors. The seasonal pools are led by the Seasonal Pool Director who is supported by an Asst. Director at each facility. All facilities provide lap swim, recreation swim, and learn to swim programs.

Red Cross certifications are preferred; however, you will be considered if you have the following current certifications for lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid: Ellis and Associates, STAR GUARD, and/or YMCA.

Plan, organize, and supervise various aquatic classes and programs while promoting aquatic opportunities to patrons and facilitating facility rentals Manage financial responsibilities, including daily deposits, payroll, activity, attendance, revenue, expenditure, budget reports and forecasting budget information for aquatic operations and facilities Recruit, train, and oversee staff, handling complaints and resolving problems Schedule and supervise lifeguards, instructors, cashier personnel, and part-time staff, providing support as needed in teaching and lifeguarding Ensure compliance with safety protocols of aquatic facility participants, spectators and staff and provide first aid or lifesaving care in emergencies Oversee facility maintenance and custodial care, addressing issues with appropriate personnel Act as the manager on duty for aquatic programs during various shifts Conduct required trainings in lifeguarding, swim instruction, first aid, and CPR, ensuring staff certifications are up to date and record keeping is compliant Stay current with necessary certifications, such as American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor (once acquired); Pool and Hot Tub Association Certified Pool Operator and Wake County Pool Operator certifications Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for summer pools and programs Assist with weather-related duties as needed in cooperation with the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or directly related field and up to one year of related experience

Licensing and Certifications
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and First Aid
- Certified Pool Operator for the Pool and Hot Tub Association and Wake County Pool Operator or the ability to obtain both within 1 year of hire
- Principles, practices, and application of program administration, project management, critical thinking and analysis
- Coordinating deadlines, prioritizing work demands, assigning/monitoring work performed and evaluating staff performance
- Supervisory principles, practices, methods and techniques for organizing, prioritizing, assigning, monitoring and leading the work of others
- Monitoring project schedules, status and compliance to applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards
- Providing excellent customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns, refer to the appropriate staff when necessary and ensure a satisfactory resolution
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to give or receive work direction
- Preparing, interpreting, monitoring and reporting financial information and statistics that adopt modern budget practices
- Researching industry trends, gathering data, analyzing findings and applying logic, reason and department best practices
- Utilizing a computer and modern office technology
